Beginner Lifestyle Photography + styling for photography (optional)
Beginner Lifestyle Photography is a small group workshop designed to equip you with the skills and know-how to create beautiful images. Beginner Lifestyle Photography is the first week of an optional two week course - with this first week concentrating on the skills needed to get your DSLR or Mirrorless camera off ‘auto’ mode and onto ‘manual’ mode to give you all the tools you need to create beautiful images. Whether you are a business owner needing imagery for your blog, website or social media channels, or a creative individual wanting to learn photography for personal use, I will teach you all the photography basics to transform your images into memorable and engaging photos. Like all of my workshops, the content is taught through a combination of theory and hands-on practice.
At the conclusion of the workshop you will have an understanding of how to use your camera on manual mode, basic photography essentials and an insight into the editing tools available.
For small business owners, the Beginner Photography workshop dovetails with a second workshop - Styling for Photography - specifically designed to teach how to style products for photography. Held over consecutive weeks, the second workshop in the series, provides a chance for you to use your newly acquired photography skills from week one and concentrates on the styling aspect of product photography in week two. Learn how to style a range of products to create engaging imagery for your business and social media.
At the conclusion of the two-part workshop series, you will walk away with the confidence to build a portfolio of beautiful, on-brand and engaging images to enhance your business.

Styling for photography is a skill that requires understanding of photography and how the relationship between objects is transformed when captured by a camera, versus styling in real life for residential or retail spaces.

frequently asked questions
I am a complete novice with my camera. Will you teach me how to use my camera?
While it is helpful for you to know your way around the basics of your camera it is not a necessity. I will help you to figure your camera out. Just make sure it is charged and has a memory card installed and I will help with the rest.
I only own a smartphone. Can I use this instead?
No. The Beginner Lifestyle Photography workshop is designed to teach photography using a DSLR / Mirrorless camera on Manual mode so a smartphone is not a suitable alternative. Similarly, the Styling for Photography workshop reviews photography techniques with regards to manual camera photography, so this element would not be relevant for a smartphone user.
I don’t own any editing software. Is that OK?
Yes. I will talk you through my favourite editing software and can show you how to download the software using the App Store on your phone.
I don’t have a business and I only want to come to learn photography for myself, will this workshop still be suitable for me?
Yes. All of the camera work, composition, lighting and editing elements of the week one Beginner Photography workshop will be relevant. The optional add-on styling workshop in week 2 is more suited to small business owners but can also be attended by anyone interested in the art of styling for photography.
I would like to attend the week 2 Styling for Photography workshop without having to attend the week 1 Beginner Photography workshop. Is that possible?
Yes. The week 2 Styling for Photography workshop is designed as a follow on for those who have attended week 1 and priority is given to these participants for the week 2 workshop. However, as this is an optional add-on, participants from week 1 may not choose to attend. In that case, if spaces are available for the week 2 styling workshop, I will open this up for bookings to anyone who already knows how to use their camera on manual mode and would just like to learn styling without the need to attend week 1 first. To register your interest in the week 2 Styling for Photography workshop only, click here and you will be added to the waitlist. The cost of the week 2 only workshop is $280 SGD.
I would like to learn about Instagram and using photography specifically on this platform. Will you teach Instagram in this workshop?
The week 2 Styling for Photography optional add-on workshop is designed to teach photography and styling images for social media but I will not be teaching Instagram strategy in this workshop. If you are interested in getting the most out of Instagram, you can request a one-on-one workshop to gain insights on all things Instagram.
How many participants are in each workshop?
There is a minimum of 6 and maximum of 8 people for the Beginner Photography workshop. And a minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 people for the Styling for Photography workshop. If the minimum number of participants isn’t reached, then the workshop will be rescheduled.
What if I am running late?
Workshops will start at 9.30am. Where possible I will wait a couple of minutes for late arrivals but due to the amount of information to get through, workshops will generally commence on time.
