product styling for photography
Designed with small business owners in mind, the Styling for Photography workshop focuses on the skills required to style products for photography. Whether your product is food, fashion, homewares - or anything in-between, this workshop covers both in-situ and simple web shop styling. Styling for photography is a skill that requires understanding of photography and how the relationship between objects is transformed when captured by a camera, versus styling in real life for residential or retail spaces.
At the conclusion of the two-part workshop series, you will walk away with the confidence to build a portfolio of beautiful, on-brand and engaging images to enhance your business.

frequently asked questions
I only own a smartphone. Can I use this instead of a DSLR or Mirrorless camera?
The Product Styling for Photography workshop teaches styling techniques with manual camera photography in mind, so it is highly recommended that you don’t use a smartphone in this workshop. Feel free to send an email to discuss this with me further.
I am a complete novice with my camera. Will you teach me how to use my camera?
The best workshop to learn photography is the Beginner Lifestyle Photography workshop where I solely teach how to use a camera. This styling workshop reviews photography settings applicable for product photography but the focus of this workshop is styling. So I recommend you take Beginner Lifestyle Photography first before you sign up for this styling workshop. Drop me an email to discuss purchasing the two workshops as a package.
I am specifically interested in food photography. Is this workshop suitable for me?
This is a general product styling workshop - and included in this is food photography - setting up shots for food photography and styling basics for food photography. That being said, it is not a specific food photography workshop. Each participant will have a different product they’re wishing to style so this workshop takes into account a broad range of product styling skills that can be applied across products.
I don’t have a business and I only want to come to learn styling for photography for myself, will this workshop still be suitable for me?
Yes. You don’t need to have a business need to do this workshop but it is particularly relevant for people who want to (or need to) style products for photography purposes and this is usually for a business. If you are simply interested in the art of styling for photography, this workshop will still be relevant and fun to attend.
I don’t have any products to bring along to practice styling with. Does that matter?
As part of the workshop I provide plenty of objects for you to practice your styling skills with - from homewares, accessories, food, fashion etc. That way you can practice all the skills without bringing any products to this workshop.
I want to bring my own businesses products to practice with, is that OK?
Yes. If you have products for your business that you want to learn how to style by all means bring a selection along. This workshop is a chance for you to practice styling set ups and time is given at the end of the workshop for a practical hands-on styling and photography session. That being said, consider bringing along just a selection of products rather than your whole range!
I would like to learn about Instagram and using photography specifically on this platform. Will you teach Instagram in this workshop?
The Product Styling for Photography workshop is designed to teach photography and styling images for social media but I will not be teaching Instagram strategy in this workshop. If you are interested in getting the most out of Instagram, you can request a one-on-one workshop to gain insights on all things Instagram.
How many participants are in each workshop?
There is a minimum of 4 and maximum of 6 people for the Styling for Photography workshop. If the minimum number of participants isn’t reached, then the workshop will be rescheduled.
What if I am running late?
Workshops will start at 9.30am. Where possible I will wait a couple of minutes for late arrivals but due to the amount of information to get through, workshops will generally commence on time.
Is there parking available? and how do I get there by public transport?
Parking is available and all details relating to location, public transport etc will be provided to you once your spot is confirmed.
What if I need to cancel?
Please refer to our cancellation policy here
Can I send someone in my place?
Yes you can.
